You will hear no apology from me on this website for this comment! If Snoop Dog can make millions off a song, Don Imus can make millions for being fired for saying it! In the news today Don Imus to sue CBS for full contract, Hell Yea!
Don Imus’s Side
In announcing the breach of contract lawsuit, Martin Garbus cited a specific clause in the contract between Don Imus and CBS. According to CNN the clause in questions reads, “Company (CBS Radio) acknowledges that Artist’s (Imus’) services to be rendered hereunder are of a unique, extraordinary, irreverent, intellectual, topical, controversial and personal character.” The clause goes on to state that, “programs of the same general type and nature containing these components are desired by Company and are consistent with Company rules and policies.
CBS’s Side
CBS Radio issued a statement claiming it would contest vigorously Imus’ claim. The Associated Press quoted the statement from CBS Radio, which said, “We terminated Mr. Imus for cause.” The statement explains, “Based on the comments in question and relevant contract terms, we believe that the termination was appropriate and CBS would expect to prevail in any attempt by Mr. Imus to recover money for his actions.” Fortune magazine has reported that a source who has viewed the contract claimed CBS Radio not only encouraged Don Imus in his tirades, but also stated that Imus had to be warned before his was terminated.
Snoop Dogg has issued a new warning
Don’t dare to compare his lyrics — or any other MC’s — to syndicated radio host Don Imus’ recent racially inflammatory comments about the black women on the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. Imus called them “nappy-headed ho’s,” among other insults.
Admittedly, Snoop and some of his peers have called women “b—-es” and “ho’s” in their lyrics, but as the Dogg put it Tuesday afternoon (April 10), there is no parallel to what Imus said.
“It’s a completely different scenario,” said Snoop, barking over the phone from a hotel room in L.A. “[Rappers] are not talking about no collegiate basketball girls who have made it to the next level in education and sports. We’re talking about ho’s that’s in the ‘hood that ain’t doing sh–, that’s trying to get a n—a for his money. These are two separate things. First of all, we ain’t no old-ass white men that sit up on MSNBC [which announced Wednesday it would drop its simulcast of Imus' radio show] going hard on black girls. We are rappers that have these songs coming from our minds and our souls that are relevant to what we feel. I will not let them mutha—-as say we in the same league as him.”
Snoop did say, though, that the media needs to treat Imus as it treats some MCs (or football players, even).
“Kick him off the air forever,” he said. “Ban him like they did [Adam] ‘Pacman’ Jones. They kicked him out the [National Football] League for the whole season [for numerous violations of the NFL's personal-conduct policy, including multiple arrests], but this punk gets to get on the air and call black women ‘nappy-headed ho’s.’ “
I say Snoop Your an Idiot, Your a double standard fool!
I hope Don Imus wins this law suit, I’m sick and tired of double standards when it comes to racial remarks or comments, If Imus can’t say it neither should any other black artist, black performer or black person, without the same repercussion.
Rock on IMUS!
Update
Back in 1999, an official in the Washington, D.C., government was fired for saying “niggardly“? Ignoramuses took it as a racial slur. (The official, after an agonizing period, was reinstated.) city employees were offended that the aide used the word “niggardly” in describing how he would have to manage a fund’s tight budget.
Fired for an elaborate vocabulary WOW!

I agree…….. this is a double standard, and it needs to stop. I too, am tired of “what’s good for one, is not good for the other.

Rock on Russ. You said it all right there. Double standards and elaborate vocabulary… Hmm, “WOW” would have been my response as well. Indeed this world has come down to the bullshit antics of rap stars and lawsuits. My god, makes you think of what the future holds.
